Ceiling Fan Installation in West Palm Beach, FL

Florida's favorite appliance — hung on the right box, wired right.

In Florida, ceiling fans are not decoration — they are how you stay comfortable at a higher thermostat setting. A fan moving air across the room lets you run the AC two or three degrees warmer without noticing.

But a fan is a heavy, vibrating load hanging over your head. It needs a fan-rated box anchored to structure, correct wiring, and proper controls. We install fans the way they are supposed to be installed — no wobbling, no humming, no shortcuts.

The Box Matters More Than the Fan

Standard light boxes are not rated for ceiling fans. A fan hung on a light box will work loose over time — that is where wobbling and humming come from, and in the worst case, where fans come down.

We install fan-rated boxes anchored to the joist or structure above, whether we are replacing an existing fixture or adding a fan where none was. If the ceiling has no box at all, we cut in and brace it properly. This is the part of the job that cannot be skipped.

Placement and Sizing

Fan size follows room size: a small bedroom gets a different fan than a great room or a covered lanai. Blade clearance matters too — seven feet above the floor minimum, and clear of walls and sloped ceilings.

On covered patios and lanais, we install damp- or wet-rated fans built for Florida humidity and rain. Indoor fans do not belong outside, even under a roof.

Controls That Work

Pull chains are fine, but wall controls and remotes are better: separate fan speed and light control without getting up. We wire the fan for the control you want — and we make sure the control is rated for the fan, because mismatched dimmers and fan motors hum.

Smart fan controls integrate with the rest of the house. We install and configure them with you, so the fan responds the way you expect from the wall, the remote, or the app.

Fans and Your Electric Bill

A ceiling fan costs pennies a day to run and lets you raise the thermostat a few degrees — and every degree higher on the AC is real money in a Florida summer.

Pair fans with a smart thermostat schedule and you have the cheapest comfort upgrade in the house. We install both.

Common questions

Can you replace my light fixture with a ceiling fan?

Usually, yes — but the box has to be fan-rated and anchored to structure. We replace the box as part of the install, so the fan is supported correctly.

Why does my fan wobble?

Usually a mounting problem: a non-rated box, loose bracing, or an unbalanced blade set. We find the cause and fix the mounting, not just the symptom.

Can I put a ceiling fan on my patio?

Yes, with a damp- or wet-rated fan built for outdoor humidity. Indoor-rated fans corrode and fail outside, even under a covered roof.

Do I need an electrician to install a ceiling fan?

If there is no fan-rated box, or no box at all, yes. The structural mounting and wiring are electrical work, and doing it wrong is how fans end up on the floor.
